Purchasing a home is often one of the biggest investments homebuyers make in their lifetime. For this reason, it’s
necessary to give much thought and consideration before following through with owning a home.

What comes with the purchase of the home?

When purchasing a home, it’s important to consider all of you and your household’s needs when it comes to a living
space. For example, the home itself may be well-suited but if you have kids, being too far away from their school
may be an issue.

Some home sellers may include extra beneficial perks such as leaving behind furniture and appliances. This is why
it’s a great idea to inquire about all aspects of the property while on your home search.

Does the home have any potential hazards?

Just because a home appears to be sound at first glance does not mean it’s free of all potential perils. Are you
considering purchasing an older home? Home’s built before 1978 may potentially have lead paint, which is a major
health concern, so sellers are required to disclose this information to the public.

Also consider if the location of the property could put you potentially in harm’s way. Based on region, some areas
are prone to massive storms and wind fires. Doing research on the area you wish to stay in, you proactively protect
you and your household.

Would you enjoy staying in the neighborhood?

It’s important to note some homes are located in communities managed by an HOA (Homeowners association). An HOA comes
with rules and regulations, as well as additional fees homeowners in the community have to pay to ensure the overall
well-being of the neighborhood.

If you enjoy the community aspect, you may love living in an HOA community. However, if you don’t want to be subject
to additional housing rules, a home located in an HOA neighborhood may not be for you.

Doing due diligence when searching for homes can be a bit tiresome, so take your time along the way. With the help of
your real estate agent, you can elevate home options to find the best fit for you.
